A full sweep normally takes about an hour. If we encounter problems such as birds nests or a heavily creosoted flue this can increase the length of time needed and the cost.
If you're the first appointment of the day we can give you a specific time but due to the sometimes unforeseen nature of what we do all other appointments will be given a more general timeframe. We know it can be a pain waiting for a tradesperson to arrive and will do our absolute best to keep to schedule and keep you informed.
There are a few things you can do to help make your appointment run as smoothly as possible:
To ensure there are no hot embers within your appliance at the time of sweeping we ask that you refrain from having a fire the on the day of the appointment or the evening before.
We also require a clear space directly in front of your appliance of approximately 5ft x 5ft or more to work in.
Finally, we ask that your stove or fireplace is free of any litter in order that we have a clear access to your flue.
This is perhaps the most common question we're asked. Luckily we've created a simple way for you to find out. Simply head over to our Brighton Smoke Control Checker to see if the restristions apply to you and what those restrictions mean..
